Taking the mick/michael/mickey out of the Greeks

Why did this draw my attention? As well as this reference related to that expression. Everybody wants to have a go at the Greek football team, ridiculing their performance and their record in this tournament. Going out against Spain, lined up with 9 changes. What would the Greek football players do? Take revenge, show that they did not deserve being last, give up and get humiliated? Or just forget everything and play the game as it is supposed to be. A game. Something you do to enjoy yourself, and by that offer something that others would enjoy watching.

I am not sure whether that leads anywhere, but I gather that is how, individuals find out how good they are at something. When they do something unbiased, under no pressure, no hidden agendas, not trying to prove anything. Devoted completely in the game.

It is what, it seems it has played a big part, in the recent games for the Greek football team. Emotional overload Greeks can not bear, and can not cope with. An unbearable weight which leads them into disarray, erodes their confidence, compromises their resolve.
